Popeye goes to darkest Africa to search for his lost fightin' pal, Dr. Bluto. In a definite plot twist, Popeye and Bluto are friends in this cartoon. Bluto feeds spinach to an ailing Popeye.This cartoon confirms what we've suspected all along: Deep down inside, those eternal antagonists Popeye and Bluto are actually bosom buddies who happen to enjoy beating each other's brains out. Indeed, when "Doctor" Bluto embarks upon an expedition to Darkest Africa, Popeye nearly dies of loneliness. And upon learning that Bluto has disappeared in the jungle, Popeye risks life and limb to rescue his "friendly enemy."
