QuarkXPress, dünyada en çok tercih edilen ve masaüstü yayıncılıkta endüstri standardı haline gelmiş, Quark Inc. firmasının sayfa tasarım programıdır. QuarkXPress'in Mac OS ve Windows ortamlarında kullanılabilir sürümleri ayrı ayrı üretilmektedir.Bilgisayar ortamı kullanılarak üretim hazırlığı yapılan hemen hemen tüm ticari dergi, gazete, kitap gibi yayınların sayfa tasarımları ve metin içerik düzenlemeleri bu programla hazırlanabilmektedir.Web sayfası tasarımı konusuna yeni sürümlerinde (6'dan itibaren) ağırlık verilen yazılım, çokludil (multilanguage) desteğini de OpenType ve Unicode geliştirmeleriyle artırmıştır. Yine 6. sürümünden itibaren, betik (script) kullanımı da geliştirilmiştir.Üçüncü kişilerce geliştirilen birçok genişletmeler (extensions) vardır. Bunlardan en önemlilerden biri, tireleme genişletmesidir.propcindir.com Kitap gibi çok uzun metinlerde, Türkçe tireleme genişletmesi kullanıldığında, önemli bir iş kolaylıkla yerine getirilmiş olur.
Benzer yazılım gamında yer alan rakibi Adobe firmasına ait olan InDesign'dır. Bundan önceki rakibi de yine Adobe firmasının artık geliştirilmesi bırakılmış PageMaker adlı programıydı.

Version 8.1 improves PDF output capabilities and introduces features that make the page-layout process even more intuitive and productive. QuarkXPress 8.1 introduces a ‘Native Transparency’ mode for creating PDFs which can offer designers faster and more flexible PDF output support and provide greater control over their PDF workflow process. This release also renovates spell checking, adds the ability to paste text without formatting, and improves productivity with Scale functionality. QuarkXPress 8.1 also fine tunes Usability and Item Styles. In addition, it can help prevent errors by reporting faux font styles such as bold or italic. This version readies QuarkXPress for Snow Leopard and Windows 7 compatibility, and the Windows version of this release adds a Welcome Screen.
