Panic and Error Codes (V1.04(007), 30/01/2001)
Most of the main panic and error codes which you are likely to meet in Symbian OS programming have been collected together in two sets of files: one for error codes and one for panics. Many of these are not yet available in the Software Development Kit.

Patch to stop emulator hanging (15 June 2000)
An occasional problem is seen by some Symbian OS v5 Software Development Kit users where the debug version of the emulator hangs inexplicably. This is a consequence of a documented bug in the Win32 debug environment. A workaround that fixes the situation has been prepared.

Symbian OS Text Editor (v1.41(049), last updated 03/09/2001)
Currently available Symbian OS machines do not provide an onboard text-editing facility, often useful for developers and power users, although text files can be browsed in Web. A plain text editor written in native Symbian OS C++ and compiled to run on an Symbian OS machine is now available. After installation, tapping twice on plain text files will cause them to be opened in the text editor rather than in Web.

Missing Library (13 June 2000)
The MARM release version of contacui.lib was omitted from the \epoc32\release\marm\rel folder of the C++ and Java™ Software Development Kits. It is the library which has to be linked against if any of the exported methods of ContactUi or related classes declared in contacui.h are used.

Note: If you have installed the C++ or OPL Symbian OS v5 Software Development Kits on your PC alongside the Java™ Software Development Kit, you may not need these files provided your PATH variable points to the \epoc32\tools\ folder of the C++/OPL Software Development Kit rather than that of the Java™ one.

JavaSweep - Rogue Java Process terminator (15 December 1999)
When a Java™ program is running, it is possible if something goes wrong for the user interface part to get closed down while the Java™ Runtime does not. This means that it is no longer possible for the user to bring up the process in the "Open files / programs" dialog and call Ctrl+Shift+E on it (which is the standard way of closing down a rogue Java™ process which still has an attached UI). This occurs in particular if Ctrl+Shift+Fn+K (a key combination which closes down standard EPOC apps) is mistakenly invoked on a Java™ application. Installing JavaSweep will enable you to terminate these rogue processes.

Pre-processor tool for use with the Java Software Development Kit (25 August 1999)
The Symbian OS v5 Java™ Software Development Kit shipped without the preprocessor tool in the \epoc32\gcc\bin\ folder. Without this it is not possible to use AIFTOOL to create .AIF files for Java™ applications which you wish to appear on the Symbian OS Extras bar. This .ZIP contains the two missing files, installation of which will allow you to compile such files.

Missing include files from the OPL Symbian OS v5 Software Development Kit (28 September 1999)
The Symbian OS v5 OPL Software Development Kit shipped without some important files in the \epoc32\include\ folder. Without these files it is not possible to use the resource compiler to create language resource files for OPL programs. This Zip contains the four missing files, installation of which will allow you to compile your resource files.

Symbian OS v5 STDLIB Redistributable Package
The license agreements which accompany the Symbian OS v5 SDKs do not specifically state STDLIB.SIS can be redistributed by software authors with their own applications. This patch has been released to rectify this and clarify the situation.
